Report birth of a child by institutions

If a child is born in your facility, you must report this to the responsible registry office.

Detailed description

In the case of births in hospitals and other facilities where obstetric care is provided, the facility is obliged to report the birth.


If a child is born in your facility, you must report this to the relevant registry office. The jurisdiction depends on the location where the child was born.


Report the birth to the registry office within one week. In the case of a stillborn child, report the birth no later than the third business day following the birth.


You can report the birth in writing.

Prerequisites

The child whose birth is to be reported to the competent registry office was born in your institution.

  • Birth notification with signature of the institution and with information about mother and child

Please note

The benefit is only intended to fulfill the legal registration requirement. If the birth is registered at the registry office, further proof from the parents is required.

Deadlines

Report the birth to the registry office responsible for the place of birth within one week. The day of birth is not included in the calculation of the reporting period.


If the child was stillborn, you must submit the birth notification to the registry office responsible for the place of birth no later than the third working day after the birth.
