Prerequisites

• Her main residence is in Hamburg.
• You have a valid driving license of classes C or D or a valid passenger transport license.

Documents required

• valid identity card, electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with current registration confirmation
• valid driving license in EU card format
• Medical report according to Annex 5.1 FeV, not older than 1 year
• Certificate from an ophthalmologist or ophthalmological report according to Annex 6 FeV, not older than 2 years
• Appointment confirmation

Additionally when renewing the truck driving license (C classes):

• biometric passport photo (35x45 millimeters)

Additionally when renewing the bus driving license (D classes):

• biometric passport photo (35x45 millimeters)
• Certificate of good conduct (feature O for official purposes), not older than 3 months
• If you are 50 years or older: medical report according to Annex 5.2 FeV, not older than 1 year

Additionally, when extending the passenger transport license:

• previous passenger transport license
• Certificate of good conduct (feature O for official purposes, apply to the registration authority), not older than three months
• If you are 60 years or older: medical report according to Annex 5.2 FeV, not older than 1 year

Please note

The driving license offices LBV-Mitte and LBV-Nord are responsible.

If you still have an old driver's license issued before January 19, 2013, you must first exchange it for the current card format. To do so, book another appointment.

A passenger transport license is required for the following vehicles if they transport passengers: taxis, ambulances, rental cars, cars on scheduled services, cars used for commercial excursions or holiday trips. Further information can be found under the "Passenger Transport" link (see below).

Deadlines

Your driving license can be extended for a maximum of 5 years.


You can apply for an extension no earlier than six months before your current license expires. You must apply for the extension while your license is still valid. If it has already expired, a new license must be issued.

Procedure

• You book an appointment online.
  • On our website for booking appointments, select the category "Driver's License"
  • Book the appointment "Application for driver card" or "Application for passenger transport license" or "Extension C/CE, D/DE + Application for driver card (optional) + Application for driver qualification certificate (optional)" depending on your request.
  • You will receive an email. Confirm your reservation using the link in the email.
• Bring all necessary documents and the appointment confirmation with you to your appointment at the LBV.
• Scan the QR code on your appointment confirmation using the scanner on site.
• Take a seat in the waiting area. You will be called by your call number.
• Your request will be processed on site.
• Once all documents are submitted, your passenger transport certificate will be issued directly or your new truck or bus driver's license will be ordered.
• Your old driver's license will then be temporarily valid. The new driver's license will be sent to you by registered mail. The driver card and driver qualification certificate will also be sent to you directly by mail if you ordered them.

Processing time

The production of the bus or truck driving license takes approximately 3 weeks.


The passenger transport license can be issued immediately on site.

38.30 EUR - 45.10 EUR


The exact amount of the fee can only be determined on-site based on the complete documentation. This is based on the Fee Schedule for Measures in Road Traffic (GebOSt).
