Prerequisites

• You have a valid passport
• You have already registered with your new address at your responsible location for residents' affairs.
• You have an official confirmation of registration

Deadlines

You must have your new place of residence changed in your passport immediately after your change of address or change it yourself online

Procedure

If you apply for a change of address in person:

• You report personally to the location responsible for residents’ affairs.
• You present your valid passport and your official registration confirmation.
• Hamburg Service will then stick an official address sticker with your new place of residence over the old place of residence in your passport.
• You can authorize another person in writing to make your address change in your passport at your responsible office.

When applying for a change of address online:

• You access the online service.
• You log in to the online service with your user account.
• You enter all required data online.
• You will receive an address label with your new place of residence by mail.
• You stick the address sticker with your new place of residence over the old place of residence in your passport.

Processing time

Due to exceptionally high order volumes, delivery times for passports are currently taking significantly longer. We would therefore like to ask you to consider applying for an express passport if necessary.
