Issuance of a residence permit for the purpose of preparing for studies (language course, preparatory college, introductory course) for a maximum of 2 years.
If you need a residence permit to prepare for your studies and you have not yet applied for an entry visa, please contact the German diplomatic mission in your home country and apply for a study visit there.
A visit visa does not lead to the granting of a residence permit for study preparation.
If the foreigner has already entered the federal territory with the correct visa or no visa was required for entry to prepare for studies, then it is necessary to report to the office responsible for foreigner affairs for the place of residence within the permitted visa period/visa-free period.
