Detailed description

Excavations in public spaces require a permit. You must apply for this in the form of an excavation permit from the responsible authority. This permit gives you permission to carry out the excavation.

 

Information

Prerequisites

You are the person who initiated the excavation or have been authorized by the person who initiated it.

Documents required

  • Power of attorney or declaration of consent of the owner
  • For water connection, water connection certificate from the Hamburg Waterworks (HWW).

Please note

As a construction company, you must keep the excavation permit available at the work site for inspection purposes.


The excavation permit does not replace other required permits, such as a traffic order.

Deadlines

Submit your application to the responsible office at least 7 days before the planned start of your duties.

Procedure

  • You submit your application for a burial permit in writing or via the provided online service.
  • The responsible authority will examine your application and request any missing information or documents from you.
  • If all legal and factual requirements are met, you will be issued with a written excavation permit.
