Prerequisites
- As part of the education package, you receive or have applied for 15 euros per month for your child's social and cultural activities.
Documents required
Certificate of your child's participation in the leisure activity
Please note
If you receive benefits from the education package, they are generally approved for a period of 12 months. During this time, you are entitled to €15 per month for your child's socio-cultural participation—a total of €180 per year. If your approval period is already running and you haven't used the €15 yet, you can save it retroactively for the entire period. This is provided that your approval period has not yet expired and your current approval notice is still valid.
If you want to save for a leisure activity over the longer term, you can also use a follow-up permit. This means that after the initial permit period has expired, you will receive a new permit because you are still eligible. You can then continue saving the new €15 amount for the planned leisure activity.
To finance this leisure time, many organizers offer installment payments. This means they first deduct the amount saved from the first approval period—for example, €90 for six months—and later, once the follow-up approval has been granted, another €90 for the remaining months. This allows a total of €180 to be used for leisure costs.
However, if you are not granted follow-up approval – for example, because you no longer receive benefits or because you return to work – your entitlement to the education package also ends. In this case, you would have to cover the remaining costs of the leisure time yourself, unless you switch to another benefit group, for example, by receiving housing benefit.
Deadlines
The benefit can be granted retroactively for a maximum of 12 months, provided that the requirements were met at that time.
