Prerequisites
- You have the necessary personal reliability.
- You have the necessary physical and mental fitness.
- You have sufficient eyesight.
- You have a German Class B driving license in the format of the new EU card driving license (issued from January 19, 2013).
- If your driver's license was issued before this date, you must exchange it beforehand. You must also exchange a foreign driver's license beforehand.
- You have your main residence in Hamburg.
- You are at least 21 years old. (The minimum age for ambulance drivers is 19.)
- You have held a Class B driving licence for at least 2 years within the last 5 years (one year is sufficient for ambulances)
Documents required
- a valid identity card or an electronic residence permit (eAT) or passport with a current confirmation of registration
- a German EU card driving license (issued after 19 January 2013; older driving licenses must be exchanged beforehand)
- an ophthalmological report in accordance with Annex 6.2 of the Driving Licence Ordinance (FeV), not older than two years
- a medical report in accordance with Annex 5.1 FeV, not older than one year
- a medical report in accordance with Annex 5.2 FeV, not older than one year (occupational or company physician)
- a certificate of good conduct that is not older than three months at the time of application (feature O for official purposes, to be applied for at the registration authority)
- the appointment confirmation
Additionally when applying for ambulance:
- Proof of participation in a first aid training course
Please note
If you have a Class D driving license, you do not need a separate driving license for passenger transport. A driving license for passenger transport is also not required.required for:
- Ambulances of the Bundeswehr, the Federal Police, the police as well as the troops and civilian entourage of the other states party to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO),
- Ambulances of the civil protection service, if they are used for this purpose,
- Ambulances of the fire departments and rescue services recognized under state law.
You can request occupational and company physicians for the examination according to Annex 5 FeV from the Medical Association
Deadlines
The driving licence for passenger transport is currently issued for a maximum of 2 years (until there is a new regulation regarding proof of the specialist knowledge test).
This should be renewed in good time (4 to 6 weeks before the expiry date).
