Prerequisites

• Her main residence is in Hamburg.
• You have already re-registered and the address on your ID document is your new Hamburg address.

Documents required

The following documents must be submitted for the application:

• a valid identity card or passport with a current registration certificate
• the registration certificate part I (vehicle registration document)
• the registration certificate part II (vehicle registration document)
• the valid test certificate of the last general inspection (HU), if this was already due for the first time, and if applicable, proof of the last safety inspection and emissions test
• consent of all legal guardians in the case of persons who are not fully legally competent
• Original SEPA direct debit mandate for collecting vehicle tax (If the tax is to be paid not by the owner but by a so-called third party willing to pay, a copy of the third party's ID card is required.)
• the appointment confirmation

Additionally for companies:

• a company certificate (for example, commercial register extract)

Additionally, if an authorized representative submits the application on your behalf:

• The legibly completed original power of attorney with a legible color copy of the principal's ID card. Note: The color copy must be marked "COPY."
• the authorized representative's ID card in the original

The re-registration of your vehicle must be done immediately.

Procedure

• Book an appointment online.
  • Visit our website to book an appointment (see link below).
  • Select the category: Vehicle registration
  • Then select: Re-registration of a vehicle and transfer of license plate
  • Follow the steps to reserve an appointment.
  • You will receive an email. Confirm your reserved appointment using the link in the email.
• Please bring all required documents and the appointment confirmation with you to your appointment.
• Scan the QR code on your appointment confirmation at the on-site scanner to register with the LBV.
• Your request will be processed on-site and documents will be handed out.

Processing time

Your application will be processed directly on site.

Fees

Taking the license plate with you costs between EUR 19.20 and EUR 50.00.


The exact amount of the costs can only be determined on-site based on the submission of all the necessary documentation. The fee amount is based on the Fee Schedule for Measures in Road Traffic (GebOSt).
