A Monthly Celebration of Short Films
Since 2002, Shorts Attack has redefined how audiences engage with short films, offering monthly themed programmes that span the globe and encompass every genre imaginable. Curated by interfilm Berlin—the team behind the capital’s oldest and largest short film festival—Shorts Attack follows a unique format: around ten carefully selected shorts per edition, ranging from fiction, documentary and animation to experimental works and student productions. The series is dedicated to raising the profile of short films and strengthening their presence in the cinema landscape.
What began in Berlin has grown into a nationwide tour, with monthly programmes now screened in over 20 cities across Germany—including regular screenings in Hamburg’s Eimsbüttel district at FilmRaum. Thanks to collaborations with independent cinemas and cultural partners, Shorts Attack offers a vibrant mix of political, poetic, absurd and genre-defying films. Audiences can expect a wide range of voices and perspectives, with foreign-language films shown in their original versions with German subtitles. Many editions also spotlight selections from major festivals such as Cannes and Sundance. To round out the experience, viewers are invited to vote online for their favourite film each month—making Shorts Attack a truly participatory celebration of cinematic storytelling in its shortest form.
