No matter your grace or skill level, a trip to the ice skating rink is always a fun winter activity. Hamburg boasts several indoor and outdoor arenas that are open to skaters of all levels. What’s more, most rinks offer special events like disco nights, curling matches and ladies’ nights. Ice skates are available for rent at all locations. Don’t forget to bring gloves!

EisArena Hamburg

This popular ice skating rink is beautifully located in the middle of Planten un Blomen park. The size of three ice hockey rinks,  is the city's largest open-air ice skating location. Warm up with hot chocolate at the cafe or go for a hearty meal at the adjacent restaurant. Special events include live DJ music on Friday and Saturday nights, special family rates on Tuesdays and a Ladies’ Night every two weeks.

Wandsbeker Winterzauber

Discover a winter-wonderland at , where cosy cottages invite visitors to indulge in baked treats and mulled wine. At the centre of it all is the ice skating rink, surrounded by Christmas trees with twinkling fairy lights. Music rounds out the romantic atmosphere.

Scandinavian Winter Market

Up for an active afternoon on the ice? Head over to Rindermarkthalle where  — no ice skates needed. After the match, the cosy winter market is a lovely treat: browse booths with handicrafts and snacks or gather round the campfire and admire St. Pauli’s largest Christmas tree.

Eisbahn Stellingen

This semi-covered ice arena in Hamburg’s northwest is the home base of the HSV ice hockey team. When the team is not training or playing a match, the ice field is open to the public. for current opening hours and match schedules.

Eisland Farmsen

This is located in the green suburbs of Hamburg’s east. At a temperature of 11°C, skaters of all levels are invited to twirl away. On Saturdays from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. it’s disco time: strut your dance moves on the ice, accompanied by music and laser lights.
