Hundertwasser Station

Uelzen Bahnhof, designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, is a bright bustling train station with a fascinating, multi-coloured facade.

°Õ³ó±ðÌý was built in 1887, but after many modifications and renovations, had lost its original style. In 1995, the government of Lower Saxony approached the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser to conceptualise a makeover for the building. Several years later, train station Uelzen was redesigned into a bright, interesting station which attracts tourists and locals alike.

Known today as a ‘cultural and environmental’ orientated train station, train station Uelzen was refurbished to include the Hundertwasser's signature bright tiles across the outer facade and ceiling, as well as inside the station. The old Wilhelminian facade was re-exposed and trees were planted wherever possible, giving the station a relaxed and organic appearance.
