Two prominent green-roofed towers聽mark the 205-metre-long terminal between the lower port area, Reeperbahn and Fischmarkt. Located by the Elbe, the Landungsbr眉cken (lit. 'landing bridges') were once a landing pier for steam ships, and they now function as a connector for various lines of Hamburg's local聽train and ferry systems. Some harbour ferries and depart on their trips to Helgoland聽while others take every wannabe-seafarer down the Elbe river for the price of聽bus fare. And if you have a ticket to see The Lion King听辞谤 Mary Poppins musicals , the Landungsbr眉cken ferries will also carry you over to the waterfront theatres. Other sites聽close to the piers include the Alter Elbtunnel (lit. 'Old Elbe Tunnel') under the river as well as museum ships Rickmer Rickmers and Cap San Diego. A variety of restaurants and gift shops go hand in hand with the striking view of massive container and cruise ships, especially since over the last decades聽the piers have聽developed into one of Hamburg's most popular promenades.
