Hamburg's theatre scene extends beyond the glitz of its musicals and the classics of the old German masters, like Goethe and Schiller. The offer audiences a fresh take on classics and modern pieces alike.
Students Take the Stage
Part of Hamburg University's Institute of English and American Studies, this award-winning amateur group puts on two productions per year. Choices are wide-ranging, with the group staging classical plays, Shakespearean dramas, comedies and histories, or pieces from modern and contemporary playwrights. They've even done custom-written productions! The common thread is that every show put on by the University Players is English.
Shows take place in the Audimax auditorium on Hamburg University's campus. The cast and crew are in large part made up of Uni Hamburg students and alumni, but anyone can get involved.
