Altonale

This Altona-based street festival combines theatre performances, arts, flea markets, live music and parties.

Nino Herrlich

Street art, concerts, film screenings, pop-up theatre and a whole lot more: for 17 days a year, the district of Altona is transformed into a bustling culture hub. More than 200 music, theatre, dance, art, film and literature events make up the programme of altonale: the largest culture and street festival in Hamburg.

Over 2000 artists, 180 organisations and numerous local businesses are represented at this district-wide festival, where visitors can expect anything from concerts and street theatre to children’s activities and movie screenings. The first altonale weekend is held parallel to the STAMP international street art festival. One of the other highlights is the yearly altonale Pop Night, during which international and local musicians perform in extraordinary locations. The altonale festival traditionally ends with a large street festival and flea market during the festival’s final weekend.
